-Figures of speech that is similes and metaphors
-Vivid description-this is describing something in details that the reader can visualize it.
-Hyperbole- this is exaggeration
-Personification-this is giving human qualities to animals and inanimate objects
-foreboding/ foreshadow- this is hinting about something that will happen before it happens.
-Dialogue- This is communication between two people.
-Rhetorical questions- these are questions that do not require answers
-flashback- this is going back to an commenting about what took place in the past
-local dialect- this is use of vernacular words.
-irony -There are three types of Irony:
a)Dramatic irony- one character and the reader know something that another character does not know.
b)situational Irony-This is when something happens that is the opposite of what we expect to happen.
c) Verbal irony-the speaker’s intention is the opposite of what she or he is saying
-sarcasm-This is showing contempt or mockery by commenting the opposite of what you mean.
-satire- this is highlighting someone’s weakness in a humorous way
-proverbs and wise sayings- These are popular sayings used in the community to admonish, warn, advice
