A pattern of   a child‘s dress is provided.

You are advised to study the sketches, instructions, and the layout carefully before you begin the test

Materials Provided

1. Pattern pieces

       A. Dress Back

       B. Dress Front

       C. Front Yoke

       D. Sleeve

      E. Back Facing

       F. Front Facing

2. Plain light weight cotton fabric 65 cm long by 90 cm wide.

3. Elastic cord 20 cm long.

4. Sewing thread to match the fabric.

5. One large envelope

THE TEST

Using the materials provided cut out and make the RIGHT HALF of a child’s dress to show the following processes.

1. Cutting out                                                                                          ( 17 marks )
2. Attaching the front yoke to the dress using an overlaid seam            (10  ½ marks )
3. Joining the shoulder seam using an open seam                                  (5 marks)
4. Joining of side seam using an open seam                                           (9 marks )
5. Preparation of the sleeve
6. Joining the underarm seam using an  open seam (do not neaten)   (5 marks)
7. Elasticating  the sleeve edge                                                   ( 7 marks)
8. Attaching the sleeve onto the garment  (do not neaten)                      (6 marks)
9. Attaching the facing at the neckline                                                    (24  marks )
10. Presentation                                                                                         ( 6  ¹/₂ marks )
