KENYA STATE CORPORATIONS THAT WERE WERE MERGED
In January 2025, the Kenyan government approved significant reforms to streamline state corporations, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce redundancy. These reforms include merging 42 state corporations into 20 entities, dissolving nine, and restructuring several others.

- Agricultural Development Corporation and Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre
- National Irrigation Authority and National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority
- Kenya Law Reform Commission and National Council for Law Reporting
- Tourism Promotion Fund and Tourism Fund
- Commission for University Education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority, and Kenya National Qualifications Authority

Additionally, certain public funds and professional bodies currently classified as state corporations will be declassified and returned to their respective ministries with strengthened governance frameworks. These include the Water Sector Trust Fund, National Environment Trust Fund, Sports, Arts and Social Development Fund, and Fish Levy Trust Fund.
The government has assured that these reforms aim to eliminate inefficiencies, improve service delivery, and reduce the financial strain on the national budget, with no job losses anticipated as a result of the mergers.
