2
5.1. Four stylized figures: They represent all of humanity, coming from the four corners of
the earth. They embrace each other to indicate the solidarity and fraternity which should
unite all peoples.
5.2. Cross: The figure at the front is holding onto the cross. It is a sign of the faith which this
lead figure embraces, and of hope. We are always in need of hope, especially in our
moments of greatest need. The cross bends down towards humanity, not leaving human
beings alone, but stretching out to them to offer the certainty of its presence and the
security of hope.
5.3. Rough waves: The rough waves under the figures symbolise the fact that life’s pilgrimage
does not always go smoothly in calm waters.
5.4. Anchor: The lower part of the cross is elongated and turns into the shape of an anchor
which is let down into the waves. The anchor is a symbol of hope. In maritime jargon the
‘anchor of hope’ refers to the reserve anchor used by vessels involved in emergency
manoeuvres to stabilise the ship during storms.
5.5. Motto: At the bottom of the logo is the motto of the 2025 Jubilee Year: “Pilgrims of
hope”, written in green letters. - The Jubilee Banner
- The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
3
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen.
Sala ya Jubilei
Baba uliye mbinguni,
Imani uliyotujalia
katika Mwanao Yesu Kristo, kaka yetu,
na mwali wa Upendo uliowashwa
mioyoni mwetu na Roho Mtakatifu,
na ziamshe upya ndani yetu,
Tumaini lenye heri
la ujio wa Ufalme wako.
Tunaomba neema yako itubadilishe,
ili tuwe wakulima wasiochoka wa mbegu za Injili.
Mbegu hizo zibadilishe kutoka ndani
ubinadamu na ulimwengu wote,
katika tarajio la uhakika
la mbingu mpya na dunia mpya,
pale ambapo nguvu za Uovu zitakapokuwa zimeshindwa,
utukufu wako utang’aa milele.
Neema ya Jubilei na iamshe upya ndani yetu,
sisi Mahujaji wa Matumaini,
shauku ya hazina za mbinguni.
Neema hiyo hiyo
ieneze furaha na amani ya Mkombozi wetu duniani kote.
Ewe Mungu wetu, mbarikiwa milele,
utukufu na sifa ni kwako hata milele.
Amina.

Pilgrims of Hope
Original text: Pierangelo Sequeri
English translation: Andrew Wadsworth
Like a flame my hope is burning,
may my song arise to you:
Source of life that has no ending,
on life’s path I trust in you. - Ev’ry nation, tongue, and people
find a light within your Word.
Scattered fragile sons and daughters
find a home in your dear Son. - God, so tender and so patient,
dawn of hope, you care for all.
Heav’n and earth are recreated
by the Spirit of Life set free. - Raise your eyes, the wind is blowing,
for our God is born in time.
Son made man for you and many
who will find the way in him.
Important Pastoral Indications - Opening and Closing of the Jubilee
1.1. The Jubilee Year will be opened in the Diocese on Sunday, 5
th January 2025, at the Sacred
Heart of Jesus, Cathedral.
1.2. There shall be no other Masses or celebrations in the Diocese to open the Jubilee
Year apart from the Mass that will be presided over by the Bishop at the Cathedral. This
is in accordance with the norms issued by the Holy See. However, Deaneries, Parishes or
Institutions may organise to have Masses or celebrations to “receive” the Jubilee
Year. At such events, the Masses provided for the Jubilee Year may be celebrated (Refer
to the Dicastery for Evangelization Guidelines).
1.3. Likewise, there will be only one Mass to close the Jubilee Year as again guided by the
Dicastery for Evangelization. Masses and other celebrations may be held at the end of the
Jubilee Year as “Thanksgiving Masses for the Jubilee Year” and not as Masses to close
the Year. Masses for the Jubilee Year may be celebrated in such occasions. - Jubilee Sites
2.1. The following Churches have been designated as Jubilee Sites in the Catholic Diocese
of Murang’a and can therefore be visited as Sacred Places during the Year of Jubilee,
whereby the faithful can obtain indulgencies in accordance with the “Decree on the
Granting of the Indulgence During the Ordinary Jubilee Year 2025 Called by His Holiness
Pope Francis” by the Apostolic Penitentiary on 13 May 2024.
2.1.1.Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cathedral
2.1.2.Consolata Shrine, Tuthu
2.2. The above Jubilee sites can be visited by individuals or by groups. - Holy Doors
Unlike during the Jubilee of Mercy celebrated in the year 2016, during this Jubilee Year, there
shall be no Holy Door opened outside Rome. The Holy Father, in the Bull of Indiction, Spes
non confundit¸ guides that the Holy Door will be opened in the four Major Papal Basilicas in
Rome and in one Prison. This means that we shall not have a Holy Door in the Diocese
